Story of a Truss narrates the stories of three distinct projects and how they interwave one another. The first project is the Kenton Women’s Village, a transitional housing community in North Portland that provides a roof to 14 houseless women. The second project is the stage for the Pickathon Music Festival 2017, built by PSU faculty and students. The third project is the Clackamas Veterans’ Village, a village for 30 homeless veterans. Through data visualization, the chaotic quantity of information was transformed into a clear representation of data unified by one key element: the SRG wooden truss. Story of a truss illustrates a beautiful story in which trusses, people, and opportunities interact together in the creation of architectural pieces and invite reflections about their processes, outcomes and social impacts.

In February 2019, the Homelessness Research & Action Collaborative was contacted by the Anchorage Museum (Alaska) to collaborate on an exhibit around homelessness and potential solutions to address it. As part of this collaboration, l participated in the curation of the exhibit, covering tasks that included the creation and editing of final graphic material and the setting up of exhibit rooms. Among others, Story of a Truss, a full scale pod, and PSU students’ research boards, were showcased as core pieces of the exhibition.
