Nest of Stone is a place within a place, a small rocky gem lost in the gorgeous landscapes of the Orobie Mountains, in northern Italy. The idea of the nest was inspired by the feeling of protection and intimacy felt visiting the building site, an intimate natural hollow, for the first time. The design completes the rounded shape of the hollow by creating two stone arms that emerge from the slopes and become a sitting place to rest, eat, or enjoy the open view of the mountains. For stimulating these moments of peace and contemplation, eight suggestions were hand-carved on the rough stone walls of the nest: listening, observing, dreaming, contemplating, embracing, breathing, growing, experiencing.
